"Sarmatism. A Dream of Power"
The exhibition is an attempt to develop an overview of the Sarmatian culture and its impact on the culture of the Republic of Poland. We can see the broad collection of portraits of important figures of that period, and take a closer look at the valuable and rare items related to Sarmatism. The exhibition includes copies of weapons, jewelry, clothing, old books, prints, exquisite fabrics and extraordinary embroideries, made - according to tradition - by the Turks enslaved after the Battle of Vienna. Perhaps the most valuable item of the exhibition is a portrait of Lew Sapieha painted by Henryk Rodakowski, one of the most significant Polish painters of all time.
The highlight of the exhibition is an opportunity to pose for a photograph in the original "kontusz" - the uniform of a Sarmatian knight.
